# 🎬 Text-to-Video Generator API (Lightricks LTX-Video 0.9.7 Distilled)

## Overview
LTX-Video 0.9.7 Distilled is a video generation model from Lightricks. Its developer describes it as faster than LTX-Video 13B with a slight reduction in quality.

Send a text `prompt` to generate a video. Add an optional `image` for image-to-video, or a `video` for video-to-video generation. Each request returns the URL of one MP4 video.

## Features
- **Three input modes**: text-to-video, image-to-video (`image`) and video-to-video (`video`, which takes precedence over `image`).
- **Resolution**: output height of 480 or 720 (default) pixels.
- **Aspect ratios**: `16:9`, `1:1`, `9:16` or `match_input_image` (default).
- **Length and frame rate**: `num_frames` from 9 to 257 and `fps` from 1 to 60.
- **Two-pass generation**: `num_inference_steps`, `downscale_factor`, `denoise_strength` and `final_inference_steps` control the first pass and the refinement pass.
- **Fast mode**: `go_fast` (default `true`) is 20 to 40% faster with slightly lower quality.

## Use Cases
1. **Short clips from descriptions**: generate scenes and B-roll from a written description.
2. **Animating a still image**: start from a photo or illustration with `image`.
3. **Reworking existing footage**: pass a `video` to generate a new clip conditioned on it.
4. **Social formats**: vertical `9:16` or square `1:1` clips at 480 or 720 pixels.

## Visual Examples
### Example Input
The example asks for a 121-frame, 24 FPS clip at 480 pixels of a woman in a period costume speaking to the camera, with `go_fast` on.

```json
{
  "fps": 24,
  "prompt": "A woman with light skin, wearing a blue jacket and a black hat with a veil, looks down and to her right, then back up as she speaks; she has brown hair styled in an updo, light brown eyebrows, and is wearing a white collared shirt under her jacket; the camera remains stationary on her face as she speaks; the background is out of focus, but shows trees and people in period clothing; the scene is captured in real-life footage.",
  "go_fast": true,
  "num_frames": 121,
  "resolution": 480,
  "aspect_ratio": "match_input_image",
  "guidance_scale": 3,
  "negative_prompt": "worst quality, inconsistent motion, blurry, jittery, distorted",
  "denoise_strength": 0.4,
  "downscale_factor": 0.667,
  "conditioning_frames": 21,
  "num_inference_steps": 24,
  "final_inference_steps": 10
}
```

## Pricing
- **Pay As You Go (PAYG) pricing**: you only pay for what you use.
- **Price**: $0.15 per API unit.
- **1 API unit = 1 successful request** that uses up to 88 seconds of processing time. A request that needs more processing time is billed one more unit for each started block of 88 seconds (for example, 89 to 176 seconds of processing is 2 units, $0.30).
- More `num_frames`, `resolution` 720 and more inference steps take longer; a request that runs past 88 seconds of processing uses more than one unit.
- **Example cost**: the example request on this page used 14.7 seconds of processing, so it was billed 1 unit ($0.15).
- **Failed or cancelled predictions are not billed.**
- **GET requests to check prediction status** are free and don't count toward API unit usage.
- **No monthly subscription fee.**

## API Documentation

### Base URL
All API requests go to: `https://prod.api.market/api/v1/magicapi/fast-video-processing-api-lightricks-ltx-video-0-9-7-distilled`

### Authentication
Send your api.market API key in the `x-api-market-key` header:
```
x-api-market-key: YOUR_API_MARKET_KEY
```

### Asynchronous Processing
**IMPORTANT**: This API is asynchronous. The flow is:
1. Send a POST request to `/predictions`. A successful request returns **201 Created** with a prediction `id` and a `status` of `starting` or `processing`.
2. Poll GET `/predictions/{id}` with that ID.
3. Keep polling while `status` is `starting` or `processing`.
4. Stop when `status` is `succeeded` (read `output`), `failed` or `canceled` (read `error`).

A polling interval of 1 second and an overall timeout of 600 seconds (10 minutes) work well.

  -H "x-api-market-key: YOUR_API_MARKET_KEY"

  "id": "4qza5chhp1rnr0d1d11tad65zc",
  "status": "succeeded",
  "output": "https://blog.api.market/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/ltx-video-0-9-7-distilled-output-4qza5chh-api-market.mp4",

  "completed_at": "2026-10-23T10:18:35.025Z"
}
```
`output` is a single URL string pointing to the generated MP4 video.
### Status Codes
- **201 Created**: prediction created (POST `/predictions`). This is the normal success response.
- **200 OK**: prediction details returned (GET `/predictions/{id}`).
- **400 Bad Request**: invalid input, for example a missing `prompt`, a `resolution` other than 480 or 720, or `num_frames` outside 9 to 257.
- **401 Unauthorized**: missing or invalid API key.
- **404 Not Found**: no prediction with that ID.
- **429 Too Many Requests**: rate limit exceeded.
- **500 Internal Server Error** or **503 Service Unavailable**: temporary server problem; retry later.
## Rate Limits
All plans allow 10 requests per second. Requests above that return `429 Too Many Requests`; back off before retrying and honour any `Retry-After` header. Polling a prediction with GET is free but still counts toward the per-second limit, so poll every 1 to 5 seconds rather than in a tight loop.
## Error Handling
- Check the HTTP status code of every request and read the response body for the error message.
- A prediction can also end with `status` set to `failed`; the `error` field then explains why. Failed predictions are not billed.
- Retry 429, 500 and 503 responses with exponential backoff. Fix the input before retrying a 400.
## FAQ
- **How long is the video?**
  - `num_frames` divided by `fps`. The example used 121 frames at 24 FPS, which is about 5 seconds.
- **What happens if I send both `image` and `video`?**
  - `video` takes precedence and the request runs as video-to-video.
- **Should I turn off `go_fast`?**
  - Turn it off when quality matters more than speed. Fast mode is 20 to 40% faster with slightly lower quality.
- **Is the 201 response from POST an error?**
  - No. 201 Created means the prediction was accepted. Use the returned `id` to poll GET `/predictions/{id}` until `status` is `succeeded`, `failed` or `canceled`.
- **What if my prediction fails?**
  - Failed predictions are not billed. Read the `error` field, adjust the input and try again.
