# 🎵 Song Generator API (Google Lyria 3 Pro)

## Overview
Lyria 3 Pro is a music generation model from Google. Its developer describes it as Google's most capable music generation model, generating full-length songs of up to 3 minutes from text prompts or images.

Write the song in `prompt`: genre, instruments, mood, tempo, lyrics and section tags such as `[Verse]`, `[Chorus]` and `[Bridge]`. You can also add timestamps like `[0:00 - 0:30]` to control timing, and pass up to 10 `images` to inspire the composition. Each request returns the URL of one audio file.

## Features
- **Full-length songs**: up to 3 minutes per generation, according to its developer.
- **Lyrics and structure**: write verses and choruses in the prompt and mark sections with tags like `[Verse 1]` and `[Chorus]`.
- **Timing control**: timestamps such as `[0:00 - 0:30]` in the prompt set when sections happen.
- **Image inspiration**: up to 10 `images` can guide the mood and style of the music.
- **Seed**: set `seed` for more reproducible results (exact determinism is not guaranteed).

## Use Cases
1. **Songs from your own lyrics**: turn written verses and choruses into a finished track.
2. **Music for videos and ads**: create a song that matches the mood and length you describe.
3. **Soundtracks from visuals**: send images of a scene or product to inspire the music.
4. **Demos and ideas**: try a song in different genres and tempos before recording it.

## Visual Examples
### Example Input
Lyrics with `[Verse 1]`, `[Chorus]` and `[Verse 2]` tags, followed by genre, mood and tempo. No images and no seed.

```json
{
  "prompt": "[Verse 1]\nWalking through the neon glow,\ncity lights reflect below,\nevery shadow tells a story,\nevery corner, fading glory.\n\n[Chorus]\nWe are the echoes in the night,\nburning brighter than the light,\nhold on tight, don't let me go,\nwe are the echoes down below.\n\n[Verse 2]\nFootsteps lost on empty streets,\nrhythms sync to heartbeats,\nwhispers carried by the breeze,\ndancing through the autumn leaves.\n\nGenre: Dreamy indie pop. Mood: Nostalgic and uplifting. Tempo: 110 BPM."
}
```

## Input Parameters
| Field | Type | Required | Default | Allowed values | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `prompt` | string | Yes | | | Text prompt describing the song. Include genre, instruments, mood, tempo, lyrics and song structure (for example [Verse], [Chorus], [Bridge]). Timestamps such as [0:00 - 0:30] control timing |
| `images` | array of strings (URLs) | No | `[]` | | Image URLs (jpeg, png, gif or webp) that inspire the composition, up to 10 |
| `seed` | integer | No | none | | Random seed. Set a value for more reproducible results; exact determinism is not guaranteed |

## Pricing
- **Pay As You Go (PAYG) pricing**: you only pay for what you use.
- **Price**: $0.10 per API unit.
- **1 API unit = 1 output audio file.** Each request returns one song, so each successful request costs $0.10.
- Song length, lyrics, images and seed do not change the price.
- **Example cost**: the example returned 1 audio file: 1 API unit = **$0.10**.
- **Failed or cancelled predictions are not billed.**
- **GET requests to check prediction status** are free and don't count toward API unit usage.
- **No monthly subscription fee.**

## API Documentation

### Base URL
All API requests go to: `https://prod.api.market/api/v1/magicapi/generate-songs-from-text-or-images-google-lyria-3-pro`

### Authentication
Send your api.market API key in the `x-api-market-key` header:
```
x-api-market-key: YOUR_API_MARKET_KEY
```

### Asynchronous Processing
**IMPORTANT**: This API is asynchronous. The flow is:
1. Send a POST request to `/predictions`. A successful request returns **201 Created** with a prediction `id` and a `status` of `starting` or `processing`.
2. Poll GET `/predictions/{id}` with that ID.
3. Keep polling while `status` is `starting` or `processing`.
4. Stop when `status` is `succeeded` (read `output`), `failed` or `canceled` (read `error`).

A polling interval of 2 seconds and an overall timeout of 600 seconds (10 minutes) work well.

### Endpoints

#### Create a Prediction
```bash
curl -X POST "https://prod.api.market/api/v1/magicapi/generate-songs-from-text-or-images-google-lyria-3-pro/predictions" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "x-api-market-key: YOUR_API_MARKET_KEY" \
  -d '{
    "version": "google/lyria-3-pro",
    "input": {
      "prompt": "[Verse 1]\nWalking through the neon glow,\ncity lights reflect below,\nevery shadow tells a story,\nevery corner, fading glory.\n\n[Chorus]\nWe are the echoes in the night,\nburning brighter than the light,\nhold on tight, don'\''t let me go,\nwe are the echoes down below.\n\n[Verse 2]\nFootsteps lost on empty streets,\nrhythms sync to heartbeats,\nwhispers carried by the breeze,\ndancing through the autumn leaves.\n\nGenre: Dreamy indie pop. Mood: Nostalgic and uplifting. Tempo: 110 BPM."
    }
  }'
```

Response (201 Created):
```json
{
  "id": "cfnt15zxs1rmr0d1ccq8d8e7x8",
  "version": "google/lyria-3-pro",
  "status": "starting",
  "created_at": "2026-10-22T10:36:26.581Z"
}
```

#### Check Prediction Status
```bash
curl -X GET "https://prod.api.market/api/v1/magicapi/generate-songs-from-text-or-images-google-lyria-3-pro/predictions/{id}" \
  -H "x-api-market-key: YOUR_API_MARKET_KEY"
```

Response when the prediction has finished (200 OK):
```json
{
  "id": "cfnt15zxs1rmr0d1ccq8d8e7x8",
  "status": "succeeded",
  "output": "https://blog.api.market/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/lyria-3-pro-output-cfnt15zx-api-market.mp3",
  "error": null,
  "created_at": "2026-10-22T10:36:26.581Z",
  "started_at": "2026-10-22T10:36:26.594Z",
  "completed_at": "2026-10-22T10:37:11.188Z"
}
```

`output` is a single URL string pointing to the generated audio file (MP3 in the example).

### Status Codes
- **201 Created**: prediction created (POST `/predictions`). This is the normal success response.
- **200 OK**: prediction details returned (GET `/predictions/{id}`).
- **400 Bad Request**: invalid input, for example a missing `prompt` or an `images` entry that is not a valid URL.
- **401 Unauthorized**: missing or invalid API key.
- **404 Not Found**: no prediction with that ID.
- **429 Too Many Requests**: rate limit exceeded.
- **500 Internal Server Error** or **503 Service Unavailable**: temporary server problem; retry later.

## Rate Limits
All plans allow 10 requests per second. Requests above that return `429 Too Many Requests`; back off before retrying and honour any `Retry-After` header. Polling a prediction with GET is free but still counts toward the per-second limit, so poll every 1 to 5 seconds rather than in a tight loop.

## Error Handling
- Check the HTTP status code of every request and read the response body for the error message.
- A prediction can also end with `status` set to `failed`; the `error` field then explains why. Failed predictions are not billed.
- Retry 429, 500 and 503 responses with exponential backoff. Fix the input before retrying a 400.

    body: JSON.stringify({ version: "google/lyria-3-pro", input })
  });

  if (response.status !== 201) {
    throw new Error(`API error: ${response.status} ${await response.text()}`);
  }

  const prediction = await response.json();
  return pollForResults(prediction.id);
}

const delay = (ms) => new Promise((resolve) => setTimeout(resolve, ms));

async function pollForResults(predictionId) {
  const maxTimeout = 600000;
  const pollInterval = 2000;
  const startTime = Date.now();

  while (Date.now() - startTime < maxTimeout) {
    const response = await fetch(`${baseUrl}/predictions/${predictionId}`, {
      headers: { "x-api-market-key": apiKey }
    });

    if (!response.ok) {
      throw new Error(`API error: ${response.status} ${await response.text()}`);
    }

    const prediction = await response.json();

    if (prediction.status === "succeeded") {
      return prediction.output;
    }

    if (prediction.status === "failed" || prediction.status === "canceled") {
      throw new Error(`Prediction ${prediction.status}: ${prediction.error || "Unknown error"}`);
    }

    await delay(pollInterval);
  }

  throw new Error("Prediction timed out after 10 minutes");
}

createAndWaitForPrediction({
    "prompt": "[Verse 1]\nWalking through the neon glow,\ncity lights reflect below,\nevery shadow tells a story,\nevery corner, fading glory.\n\n[Chorus]\nWe are the echoes in the night,\nburning brighter than the light,\nhold on tight, don't let me go,\nwe are the echoes down below.\n\n[Verse 2]\nFootsteps lost on empty streets,\nrhythms sync to heartbeats,\nwhispers carried by the breeze,\ndancing through the autumn leaves.\n\nGenre: Dreamy indie pop. ## FAQ
- **How long are the songs?**
  - Up to 3 minutes per generation, according to its developer. Describe the structure and timing in the prompt to shape the length.
- **How do I add lyrics?**
  - Write them in `prompt`, grouped under section tags such as `[Verse 1]`, `[Chorus]` and `[Bridge]`, then add genre, mood and tempo, as in the example.
- **What do the images do?**
  - They inspire the composition, for example its mood and style. You can send up to 10 image URLs in `images`, or none.
- **Is the result reproducible?**
  - Setting `seed` makes results more reproducible, but exact determinism is not guaranteed.
- **What does one request cost?**
  - $0.10 per song. Each request returns one audio file.
- **What if my prediction fails?**
  - Failed predictions are not billed. Read the `error` field, adjust the input and try again.
