# 🎞️ Image-to-Video Generator API (Wan 2.6)

## Overview
Wan 2.6 I2V is the image-to-video model in Alibaba's Wan 2.6 family. It animates an input image into a 5, 10 or 15 second video at 720p or 1080p, following a text prompt.

Send an `image` and a `prompt` describing the motion. Optionally add an `audio` file (wav or mp3, 3 to 30 seconds, up to 15MB) to synchronize the video with a voice or music track. Each request returns the URL of one MP4 video.

## Features
- **Image-to-video**: the input `image` sets the subject and scene; the `prompt` describes what happens.
- **Duration**: 5 (default), 10 or 15 seconds.
- **Resolution**: `720p` (default) or `1080p`.
- **Audio sync**: pass an `audio` file for voice or music synchronization.
- **Prompt expansion**: `enable_prompt_expansion` (default `true`) runs a prompt optimizer before generation. Set it to `false` to use your prompt as written.
- **Multi-shot**: `multi_shots` enables multi-shot segmentation instead of a single shot. It only takes effect when prompt expansion is on.
- **Negative prompt** and **seed** controls.

## Use Cases
1. **Animating characters**: make an illustrated or photographed character wave, turn or walk.
2. **Product shots**: turn a still product photo into a short moving clip.
3. **Videos timed to audio**: sync a clip to a voice-over or music track by passing `audio`.
4. **Short sequences**: with `multi_shots`, get a clip made of several shots from one image and prompt.

## Visual Examples
### Example Input
- **image**:

![Input image for the Wan 2.6 I2V example: a character](https://blog.api.market/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/kling-v2-6-motion-control-input-character-api-market.webp)

- **prompt**: "The character turns toward the camera with a warm smile, waves hello, then takes a few relaxed steps forward, smooth natural motion, steady medium shot."

All other fields were left at their defaults (`resolution` `720p`, `duration` `5`, `enable_prompt_expansion` `true`, `multi_shots` `false`, no audio file).

## Input Parameters
| Field | Type | Required | Default | Allowed values | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `image` | string (URL) | Yes |  |  | Input image for video generation |
| `prompt` | string | Yes |  |  | Text prompt for video generation |
| `negative_prompt` | string | No | `""` |  | Negative prompt to avoid certain elements |
| `audio` | string (URL) | No | none |  | Audio file (wav or mp3, 3 to 30 seconds, up to 15MB) for voice or music synchronization |
| `resolution` | string | No | `720p` | `720p`, `1080p` | Video resolution |
| `duration` | integer | No | `5` | `5`, `10`, `15` | Duration of the generated video in seconds |
| `enable_prompt_expansion` | boolean | No | `true` |  | If set to true, the prompt optimizer will be enabled |
| `multi_shots` | boolean | No | `false` |  | Enable intelligent multi-shot segmentation (only active when `enable_prompt_expansion` is enabled). True enables multi-shot segmentation, false generates single-shot content. |
| `seed` | integer | No | none |  | Random seed for reproducible generation |

## Pricing
- **Pay As You Go (PAYG) pricing**: you only pay for what you use.
- **Price**: $0.125 per API unit.
- **1 API unit = 1 second of 720p video.** Requests are billed on the requested `duration`, times the factor for the chosen `resolution`:

| `resolution` | Units per second | Price per second |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `720p` (default) | 1 | $0.125 |
| `1080p` | 1.5 | $0.1875 |

- **No resolution set**: the default `720p` applies, at 1 unit per second.
- **Rounding**: the total for a request (`duration` x units per second) is rounded up to a whole unit.
- **Worked examples**: at 720p, 5 seconds = 5 units ($0.625), 10 seconds = 10 units ($1.25), 15 seconds = 15 units ($1.875). At 1080p, 5 seconds = 7.5, rounded up to 8 units ($1.00); 10 seconds = 15 units ($1.875); 15 seconds = 22.5, rounded up to 23 units ($2.875).
- **The example request above** (default 5 seconds at 720p) used 5 units and cost $0.625.
- Audio, prompt expansion, multi-shot, negative prompt and seed do not change the price.
- **Failed or cancelled predictions are not billed.**
- **GET requests to check prediction status** are free and don't count toward API unit usage.
- **No monthly subscription fee.**

## API Documentation

### Base URL
All API requests go to: `https://prod.api.market/api/v1/magicapi/image-to-video-generator-api-wan-video-wan-2-6-i2v`

### Authentication
Send your api.market API key in the `x-api-market-key` header:
```
x-api-market-key: YOUR_API_MARKET_KEY
```

### Asynchronous Processing
**IMPORTANT**: This API is asynchronous. The flow is:
1. Send a POST request to `/predictions`. A successful request returns **201 Created** with a prediction `id` and a `status` of `starting` or `processing`.
2. Poll GET `/predictions/{id}` with that ID.
3. Keep polling while `status` is `starting` or `processing`.
4. Stop when `status` is `succeeded` (read `output`), `failed` or `canceled` (read `error`).

A polling interval of 1 second and an overall timeout of 600 seconds (10 minutes) work well.

### Endpoints

#### Create a Prediction
```bash
curl -X POST "https://prod.api.market/api/v1/magicapi/image-to-video-generator-api-wan-video-wan-2-6-i2v/predictions" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "x-api-market-key: YOUR_API_MARKET_KEY" \
  -d '{
    "version": "8dee499c1e4c5fe717885d0f52db9b10af3b28a4a29677f1c3091cae0e2c3934",
    "input": {
      "image": "https://blog.api.market/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/kling-v2-6-motion-control-input-character-api-market.webp",
      "prompt": "The character turns toward the camera with a warm smile, waves hello, then takes a few relaxed steps forward, smooth natural motion, steady medium shot."
    }
  }'
```

Response (201 Created):
```json
{
  "id": "72bfyjwv75rmr0d17fwbced82r",
  "version": "8dee499c1e4c5fe717885d0f52db9b10af3b28a4a29677f1c3091cae0e2c3934",
  "status": "starting",
  "created_at": "2026-10-14T19:51:50.976Z"
}
```

#### Check Prediction Status
```bash
curl -X GET "https://prod.api.market/api/v1/magicapi/image-to-video-generator-api-wan-video-wan-2-6-i2v/predictions/{id}" \
  -H "x-api-market-key: YOUR_API_MARKET_KEY"
```

Response when the prediction has finished (200 OK):
```json
{
  "id": "72bfyjwv75rmr0d17fwbced82r",
  "status": "succeeded",
  "output": "https://blog.api.market/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/wan-2-6-i2v-output-api-market.mp4",
  "error": null,
  "created_at": "2026-10-14T19:51:50.976Z",
  "started_at": "2026-10-14T19:51:51.976Z",
  "completed_at": "2026-10-14T19:54:50.976Z"
}
```

`output` is a single URL string pointing to the generated MP4 video.

### Status Codes
- **201 Created**: prediction created (POST `/predictions`). This is the normal success response.
- **200 OK**: prediction details returned (GET `/predictions/{id}`).
- **400 Bad Request**: invalid input, for example a missing `image` or `prompt`, or a `duration` other than 5, 10 or 15.
- **401 Unauthorized**: missing or invalid API key.
- **404 Not Found**: no prediction with that ID.
- **429 Too Many Requests**: rate limit exceeded.
- **500 Internal Server Error** or **503 Service Unavailable**: temporary server problem; retry later.

## Rate Limits

All plans allow 10 requests per second. Requests above that return `429 Too Many Requests`; back off before retrying and honour any `Retry-After` header. Polling a prediction with GET is free but still counts toward the per-second limit, so poll every 1 to 5 seconds rather than in a tight loop.

## Error Handling
- Check the HTTP status code of every request and read the response body for the error message.
- A prediction can also end with `status` set to `failed`; the `error` field then explains why. Failed predictions are not billed.
- Retry 429, 500 and 503 responses with exponential backoff. Fix the input before retrying a 400.

## FAQ
- **Which durations can I choose?**
  - 5, 10 or 15 seconds through `duration`. The default is 5.
- **What audio files can I pass?**
  - A wav or mp3 file, 3 to 30 seconds long and up to 15MB, as a URL in `audio`. It is used for voice or music synchronization and does not change the price.
- **What does `multi_shots` do?**
  - It enables multi-shot segmentation, so the output can be made of several shots instead of a single shot. It only takes effect when `enable_prompt_expansion` is on.
- **How is the price calculated?**
  - Requested `duration` in seconds, times 1 unit at 720p or 1.5 units at 1080p, rounded up to a whole unit, at $0.125 per unit. A default 5 second 720p video costs $0.625.
- **Is the 201 response from POST an error?**
  - No. 201 Created means the prediction was accepted. Use the returned `id` to poll GET `/predictions/{id}` until `status` is `succeeded`, `failed` or `canceled`.
- **What if my prediction fails?**
  - Failed predictions are not billed. Read the `error` field, adjust the input and try again.
