# 🖼️ Photorealistic Artistic Image Generator API (Krea 2 Large)

## Overview

Krea 2 Large is Krea's flagship foundation image model. Krea describes it as larger and more flexible than Krea 2 Medium, with particular strength in photorealism and expressive artistic styles.

Send a text prompt and get back one image. You choose the aspect ratio, how much the model adds to your prompt (`creativity`), and optionally guide the look with up to 10 style reference images or with a moodboard you created in Krea.

## Features

- **Text to image**: One image per request from a text prompt.
- **Eight aspect ratios**: `1:1` (default), `4:3`, `3:2`, `16:9`, `2.35:1`, `4:5`, `2:3`, `9:16`.
- **Creativity control**: `raw` renders only what you describe, `low` fills in obvious gaps, `medium` (default) adds reasonable interpretation, `high` takes meaningful creative liberty.
- **Style reference images**: Pass up to 10 image URLs; their style is applied with `style_reference_strength` (0 to 1, default 0.5).
- **Krea moodboards**: Pass the UUID of a moodboard created in the Krea webapp; `moodboard_strength` (0 to 1, default 0.35) sets how strongly it shapes the image.
- **Reproducible results**: Set `seed` to repeat a generation.

## Use Cases

- **Product and editorial photography concepts**: Photorealistic scenes for listings, ads and articles.
- **On-brand visuals**: Keep a series of images in one look with style reference images or a shared moodboard.
- **Illustration and concept art**: Expressive artistic styles from a text description.
- **Social and banner formats**: Vertical (`9:16`, `4:5`) and wide (`16:9`, `2.35:1`) images without cropping.

## Visual Examples

Request input:

- **Prompt**: "An editorial photo of a ceramic coffee cup on a linen tablecloth, morning light, a small card next to it that reads 'api.market'"
- **Aspect ratio**: `4:3`

Output:

![Image generated by Krea 2 Large from the example prompt: a ceramic coffee cup on a linen tablecloth with an api.market card](https://blog.api.market/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/krea-2-large-output-api-market.webp)

## Pricing

- **Pay As You Go (PAYG) pricing**: You only pay for what you use.
- **Price**: $0.005 per API unit.
- **Each request returns one image.** The units charged for that image depend on the inputs:
  - **Text prompt only**: 15 units, **$0.075** per image.
  - **With `style_reference_images`** (at least one image): 17 units, **$0.085** per image.
  - **With a `moodboard_id`**: 18 units, **$0.09** per image.
  - **With both style reference images and a `moodboard_id`**: 18 units, **$0.09** per image.
- **The example above** (text prompt only) is billed 15 units, $0.075.
- **Failed or cancelled predictions**: Not billed.
- **GET requests to check prediction status**: Free and don't count toward API unit usage.
- **No monthly subscription fee**: Pay as you go.

## API Documentation

### Base URL

All API requests go to: `https://prod.api.market/api/v1/magicapi/photorealistic-artistic-image-generator-krea-krea-2-large`

### Authentication

Include your api.market API key in the `x-api-market-key` header of every request:

```http
x-api-market-key: YOUR_API_MARKET_KEY
```

### Asynchronous Processing

This API is asynchronous:

1. Send a POST request to `/predictions`. The response is **201 Created** with a prediction `id` and a `status` of `starting` or `processing`. A 201 means the job was accepted; it is not an error.
2. Poll GET `/predictions/{id}` (for example once a second).
3. Stop when `status` is `succeeded` (the result is in `output`), `failed` or `canceled` (details in `error`).

Set a client-side timeout (for example 10 minutes) so a stuck job does not poll forever.

### Endpoints

#### POST /predictions

Creates a prediction. This is the request used for the example above:

```bash
curl -X POST "https://prod.api.market/api/v1/magicapi/photorealistic-artistic-image-generator-krea-krea-2-large/predictions" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "x-api-market-key: YOUR_API_MARKET_KEY" \
  --data @- <<'EOF'
{
  "version": "eef77a68a7699844a7c324d8c2a1a158b84a77b7c1875ecb3eb0c1fbc16570a9",
  "input": {
    "prompt": "An editorial photo of a ceramic coffee cup on a linen tablecloth, morning light, a small card next to it that reads 'api.market'",
    "aspect_ratio": "4:3"
  }
}
EOF
```

**Response (201 Created):**

```json
{
  "id": "ufawqhfynnddngldkgtslldrkq",
  "version": "eef77a68a7699844a7c324d8c2a1a158b84a77b7c1875ecb3eb0c1fbc16570a9",
  "status": "starting",
  "created_at": "2026-10-13T10:45:20.695Z"
}
```

#### GET /predictions/{id}

Returns the prediction's status and, once it has succeeded, its output.

```bash
curl "https://prod.api.market/api/v1/magicapi/photorealistic-artistic-image-generator-krea-krea-2-large/predictions/ufawqhfynnddngldkgtslldrkq" \
  -H "x-api-market-key: YOUR_API_MARKET_KEY"
```

**Response (200 OK, succeeded):**

```json
{
  "id": "ufawqhfynnddngldkgtslldrkq",
  "status": "succeeded",
  "output": "https://blog.api.market/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/krea-2-large-output-api-market.webp",
  "created_at": "2026-10-13T10:45:20.695Z",
  "started_at": "2026-10-13T10:45:21.102Z",
  "completed_at": "2026-10-13T10:46:05.480Z"
}
```

`output` is a single URL to the generated image.

### Input Parameters

| Parameter | Type | Default | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| `prompt` | string | - | Yes | Text prompt describing the image. |
| `aspect_ratio` | string | 1:1 | No | Aspect ratio of the generated image. Allowed values: `1:1`, `4:3`, `3:2`, `16:9`, `2.35:1`, `4:5`, `2:3`, `9:16`. |
| `creativity` | string | medium | No | How far the model expands on your prompt. 'raw' renders only what you describe; 'low' fills in obvious gaps; 'medium' adds reasonable interpretation; 'high' takes meaningful creative liberty. Allowed values: `raw`, `low`, `medium`, `high`. |
| `style_reference_images` | array of string (URI) | [] | No | Up to 10 reference images whose style should be transferred to the output. Their style is extracted and applied with the strength controlled by `style_reference_strength`. |
| `style_reference_strength` | number | 0.5 | No | How strongly to apply the style of the reference images. 0 means no influence, 1 means the style dominates. Applied to all style reference images. Range: 0 to 1. |
| `moodboard_id` | string | - | No | Optional Krea moodboard UUID. Moodboards must first be created in the Krea webapp (https://www.krea.ai/moodboards). Get the UUID from the moodboard share URL: `?share=<uuid>`. |
| `moodboard_strength` | number | 0.35 | No | How strongly the moodboard shapes the output. Range: 0 to 1. |
| `seed` | integer | - | No | Random seed. Set for reproducible generation. |

`style_reference_strength` only has an effect when `style_reference_images` is set, and `moodboard_strength` only when `moodboard_id` is set. To find a moodboard UUID, open the moodboard's share link in Krea and copy the value after `?share=`.

### Status Codes

- **201 Created**: Prediction accepted (POST). Poll the GET endpoint for the result.
- **200 OK**: Prediction returned (GET).
- **400 Bad Request**: Invalid input, for example a value outside the allowed range or enum.
- **401 Unauthorized**: Missing or invalid `x-api-market-key`.
- **404 Not Found**: Unknown prediction ID.
- **429 Too Many Requests**: Too many requests in a short time. Wait and retry.
- **500 Internal Server Error**: Server-side error. Retry later.

### Error Handling

- Treat both 200 and 201 as success.
- A prediction can still end with `status: "failed"`; read the `error` field for the reason. Failed predictions are not billed.
- Retry 429 and 5xx responses with exponential backoff. Fix the request before retrying a 400.

## Rate Limits

All plans allow 10 requests per second. Requests above that return `429 Too Many Requests`; back off before retrying and honour any `Retry-After` header. Polling a prediction with GET is free but still counts toward the per-second limit, so poll every 1 to 5 seconds rather than in a tight loop.

### JavaScript

```javascript
const apiKey = "YOUR_API_MARKET_KEY";
const baseUrl = "https://prod.api.market/api/v1/magicapi/photorealistic-artistic-image-generator-krea-krea-2-large";
async function createAndWaitForPrediction(input) {
  });
  // 201 Created is the normal success response here.
  if (!response.ok) {
    throw new Error(`API error: ${response.status} ${await response.text()}`);
  }
  const prediction = await response.json();
  return pollForResult(prediction.id);
}
async function pollForResult(id) {
  const timeoutMs = 10 * 60 * 1000;
  const start = Date.now();
  while (Date.now() - start < timeoutMs) {
    const response = await fetch(`${baseUrl}/predictions/${id}`, {
      headers: { "x-api-market-key": apiKey }
    });
    if (!response.ok) {
      throw new Error(`API error: ${response.status} ${await response.text()}`);
    }
    const prediction = await response.json();
    if (prediction.status === "succeeded") return prediction.output;
    if (prediction.status === "failed" || prediction.status === "canceled") {
      throw new Error(`Prediction ${prediction.status}: ${prediction.error || "unknown error"}`);
## FAQ
**Why do I get a 201 response instead of the result?**
The API is asynchronous. 201 Created means the prediction was accepted. Poll GET `/predictions/{id}` until `status` is `succeeded` and read `output`.
**How many images does one request return?**
One. `output` is a single image URL.
**Does using a style reference or moodboard cost more?**
Yes. A text-only image is 15 units ($0.075), with style reference images 17 units ($0.085), and with a moodboard 18 units ($0.09).
**Where do moodboards come from?**
You create them in the Krea webapp (https://www.krea.ai/moodboards) and pass the UUID from the share URL as `moodboard_id`.
**How do I get the same image again?**
Send the same inputs with the same `seed`.
