# 🌀 Tileable Morphing Animation API (andreasjansson Tile Morph)

## Overview
Tile Morph, published by andreasjansson, generates an animation that morphs from one text prompt to another. Its developer describes the result as a tileable animation with seamless transitions.

Send a `prompt_start` and a `prompt_end`. The model renders animation frames between the two prompts, interpolates between those frames and returns an MP4 video.

## Features
- **Prompt-to-prompt morphing**: the video starts from `prompt_start` and ends at `prompt_end`.
- **Several end prompts**: separate prompts in `prompt_end` with `|` (the pipe character).
- **Tileable output**: its developer describes the frames as tileable, with seamless transitions.
- **Video size**: `width` of `128`, `256`, `512` (default), `768` or `1024` pixels and `height` of `128`, `256`, `512` (default) or `768` pixels.
- **Smoothness and speed**: `num_animation_frames` (2 to 50), `num_interpolation_steps` (0 to 1000) and `frames_per_second` (1 to 60).
- **Reproducible results**: fix `seed_start` and `seed_end` to repeat a result.

## Use Cases
1. **Looping backgrounds**: tileable animated backgrounds for websites, apps and games.
2. **Theme transitions**: a visual morph from one theme to another, for example from abstract patterns to a jungle.
3. **Music and event visuals**: abstract animated clips to play behind music or on stage screens.
4. **Social media clips**: short generated animations for posts and stories.

## Pricing
- **Pay As You Go (PAYG) pricing**: you only pay for what you use.
- **Price**: $0.16 per API unit.
- **1 API unit = 1 request with up to 102 seconds of processing.** A request that takes longer uses one unit per started block of 102 seconds (for example, 250 seconds of processing uses 3 units, $0.48).
- Processing time grows with the video size, `num_inference_steps`, `num_animation_frames` and `num_interpolation_steps`.
- **Example cost**: the example took 155.1 seconds of processing, which is 2 units, $0.32.
- **Failed or cancelled predictions are not billed.**
- **GET requests to check prediction status** are free and don't count toward API unit usage.
- **No monthly subscription fee.**

## API Documentation

### Base URL
All API requests go to: `https://prod.api.market/api/v1/magicapi/seamless-tileable-animations-andreasjansson-tile-morph`

### Authentication
Send your api.market API key in the `x-api-market-key` header:
```
x-api-market-key: YOUR_API_MARKET_KEY
```

### Asynchronous Processing
**IMPORTANT**: This API is asynchronous. The flow is:
1. Send a POST request to `/predictions`. A successful request returns **201 Created** with a prediction `id` and a `status` of `starting` or `processing`.
2. Poll GET `/predictions/{id}` with that ID.
3. Keep polling while `status` is `starting` or `processing`.
4. Stop when `status` is `succeeded` (read `output`), `failed` or `canceled` (read `error`).

Generation can take a few minutes. A polling interval of 2 seconds and an overall timeout of 1800 seconds (30 minutes) work well.

### Endpoints

#### Create a Prediction
```bash
curl -X POST "https://prod.api.market/api/v1/magicapi/seamless-tileable-animations-andreasjansson-tile-morph/predictions" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "x-api-market-key: YOUR_API_MARKET_KEY" \
  -d '{
    "version": "cbf059cce30a22d821a3c86309ae3b037dcd505dd2eba47f8ea6eba20adced85",
    "input": {
      "width": 1024,
      "height": 768,
      "seed_end": 2,
      "prompt_end": "tropical jungle, cgsociety",
      "seed_start": 1,
      "prompt_start": "colorful abstract patterns",
      "guidance_scale": 7.5,
      "frames_per_second": 20,
      "num_inference_steps": 20,
      "num_animation_frames": 20,
      "num_interpolation_steps": 25
    }
  }'
```

Response (201 Created):
```json
{
  "id": "j1z9t481cxrne0d1ccjr17tqvg",
  "version": "cbf059cce30a22d821a3c86309ae3b037dcd505dd2eba47f8ea6eba20adced85",
  "status": "starting",
  "created_at": "2026-10-22T10:25:32.174Z"
}
```

#### Check Prediction Status
```bash
curl -X GET "https://prod.api.market/api/v1/magicapi/seamless-tileable-animations-andreasjansson-tile-morph/predictions/{id}" \
  -H "x-api-market-key: YOUR_API_MARKET_KEY"
```

Response when the prediction has finished (200 OK):
```json
{
  "id": "j1z9t481cxrne0d1ccjr17tqvg",
  "status": "succeeded",
  "output": [
    "https://blog.api.market/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/tile-morph-output-j1z9t481-api-market.mp4"
  ],
  "error": null,
  "created_at": "2026-10-22T10:25:32.174Z",
  "started_at": "2026-10-22T10:26:29.131Z",
  "completed_at": "2026-10-22T10:29:04.222Z"
}
```

`output` is a list of URLs. With the example settings it holds one URL pointing to the MP4 video.

### Status Codes
- **201 Created**: prediction created (POST `/predictions`). This is the normal success response.
- **200 OK**: prediction details returned (GET `/predictions/{id}`).
- **400 Bad Request**: invalid input, for example a missing `prompt_start` or a `width` that is not in the list.
- **401 Unauthorized**: missing or invalid API key.
- **404 Not Found**: no prediction with that ID.
- **429 Too Many Requests**: rate limit exceeded.
- **500 Internal Server Error** or **503 Service Unavailable**: temporary server problem; retry later.

## Rate Limits
All plans allow 10 requests per second. Requests above that return `429 Too Many Requests`; back off before retrying and honour any `Retry-After` header. Polling a prediction with GET is free but still counts toward the per-second limit, so poll every 1 to 5 seconds rather than in a tight loop.

## Error Handling
- Check the HTTP status code of every request and read the response body for the error message.
- A prediction can also end with `status` set to `failed`; the `error` field then explains why. Failed predictions are not billed.
- Retry 429, 500 and 503 responses with exponential backoff. Fix the input before retrying a 400.

## FAQ
- **What do I need to send?**
  - `prompt_start` and `prompt_end` are required. All other fields have defaults.
- **How do I make the video longer or smoother?**
  - Raise `num_animation_frames` or `num_interpolation_steps`. `frames_per_second` sets how many frames play per second. Larger values also take longer to process, which can use more API units.
- **Can I morph through more than two prompts?**
  - Yes. Separate several prompts in `prompt_end` with `|`, for example `"forest|desert"`.
- **How do I get the same result again?**
  - Send the same input with fixed `seed_start` and `seed_end` values. Without them, the seeds are random.
- **What size can the video be?**
  - `width` can be 128, 256, 512, 768 or 1024 pixels and `height` can be 128, 256, 512 or 768 pixels.
- **What if my prediction fails?**
  - Failed predictions are not billed. Read the `error` field, adjust the input and try again.
