# 🎬 Video Editing API (Pruna AI P-Video-Edit)

## Overview
P-Video-Edit is a video editing model from Pruna AI. Its developer describes it as editing videos with a text prompt and optional reference images.

Send a `video` of up to 15 seconds and a `prompt` that describes the edit. Add up to 4 reference `images` for reference-guided edits, such as replacing a garment with the one shown in a photo. Each request returns the URL of one edited video.

## Features
- **Prompt-based editing**: describe the change in `prompt`.
- **Reference images**: up to 4 images (jpg, jpeg, png, webp) in `images` guide the edit.
- **Draft mode**: `draft` `true` returns a faster, lower-quality preview at a lower price.
- **Prompt upsampling**: `prompt_upsampling` (default `true`) enhances the edit prompt.
- **Audio**: `save_audio` (default `true`) keeps the audio in the output video.
- **Seed**: set `seed` (0 to 2147483647) for reproducible results.
- **Safety filter**: `enable_safety_filter` (default `false`) checks inputs against the content policy.

## Use Cases
1. **Wardrobe and product swaps**: replace clothing or products in a clip with the item in a reference photo.
2. **Restyling**: change colours, materials or the look of objects in a scene.
3. **Ad variations**: make several versions of one short clip.
4. **Quick previews**: test an edit in draft mode before running the full-quality version.

## Visual Examples
### Example Input
A short clip and one reference image of a shirt, with the prompt below (`draft` `false`, audio kept).

```json
{
  "draft": false,
  "video": "https://blog.api.market/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/p-video-edit-input-api-market.mp4",
  "images": [
    "https://blog.api.market/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/p-video-edit-input-2-api-market.jpg"
  ],
  "prompt": "Change the  sweater by the shirt shown in the reference.",
  "save_audio": true,
  "prompt_upsampling": true
}
```

## Input Parameters
| Field | Type | Required | Default | Allowed values | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `video` | string (URL) | Yes |  |  | Input video to edit. Maximum length: 15 seconds. |
| `prompt` | string | Yes |  |  | Text prompt describing the edit. |
| `images` | array of URLs | No | `[]` | | Optional reference image URLs for reference-guided editing. Up to 4 images. Supports jpg, jpeg, png, webp. |
| `prompt_upsampling` | boolean | No | `true` |  | Use prompt upsampling to enhance the edit prompt. |
| `draft` | boolean | No | `false` |  | Draft mode. Generates a faster, lower-quality preview of the edit. |
| `save_audio` | boolean | No | `true` |  | Save the video with audio. |
| `seed` | integer | No | none | 0 to 2147483647 | Random seed. Set for reproducible generation. |
| `enable_safety_filter` | boolean | No | `false` | | Check the inputs against the content policy. When off, only the always-on categories (sexual content involving minors, self-harm intent or instructions) are still blocked. |

## Pricing
- **Pay As You Go (PAYG) pricing**: you only pay for what you use.
- **Price**: $0.032 per API unit.
- **1 API unit = 1 second of output video**, rounded up per request, multiplied by the factor for `draft`:

| `draft` | Factor | Price per second of output video |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `true` | 1 | $0.032 |
| `false` (default) | 1.8 | $0.0576 |

- When `draft` is omitted it is `false`, so the 1.8 factor applies.
- **Example cost**: the example returned a 5-second video with `draft` `false`: 5 x 1.8 = 9 units = **$0.288**.
- A 15-second output video costs $0.864, or $0.48 in draft mode.
- **Failed or cancelled predictions are not billed.**
- **GET requests to check prediction status** are free and don't count toward API unit usage.
- **No monthly subscription fee.**

## API Documentation

### Base URL
All API requests go to: `https://prod.api.market/api/v1/magicapi/video-editing-text-prompt-prunaai-p-video-edit`

### Authentication
Send your api.market API key in the `x-api-market-key` header:
```
x-api-market-key: YOUR_API_MARKET_KEY
```

### Asynchronous Processing
**IMPORTANT**: This API is asynchronous. The flow is:
1. Send a POST request to `/predictions`. A successful request returns **201 Created** with a prediction `id` and a `status` of `starting` or `processing`.
2. Poll GET `/predictions/{id}` with that ID.
3. Keep polling while `status` is `starting` or `processing`.
4. Stop when `status` is `succeeded` (read `output`), `failed` or `canceled` (read `error`).

A polling interval of 5 seconds and an overall timeout of 1,200 seconds (20 minutes) work well. The example took about 5 minutes to finish.

### Endpoints

#### Create a Prediction
```bash
curl -X POST "https://prod.api.market/api/v1/magicapi/video-editing-text-prompt-prunaai-p-video-edit/predictions" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "x-api-market-key: YOUR_API_MARKET_KEY" \
  -d '{
    "version": "prunaai/p-video-edit",
    "input": {
      "draft": false,
      "video": "https://blog.api.market/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/p-video-edit-input-api-market.mp4",
      "images": [
        "https://blog.api.market/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/p-video-edit-input-2-api-market.jpg"
      ],
      "prompt": "Change the  sweater by the shirt shown in the reference.",
      "save_audio": true,
      "prompt_upsampling": true
    }
  }'
```

Response (201 Created):
```json
{
  "id": "7jq2gbsb9srmw0d1c6nvpsn67r",
  "version": "prunaai/p-video-edit",
  "status": "starting",
  "created_at": "2026-10-22T03:32:50.292Z"
}
```

#### Check Prediction Status
```bash
curl -X GET "https://prod.api.market/api/v1/magicapi/video-editing-text-prompt-prunaai-p-video-edit/predictions/{id}" \
  -H "x-api-market-key: YOUR_API_MARKET_KEY"
```

Response when the prediction has finished (200 OK):
```json
{
  "id": "7jq2gbsb9srmw0d1c6nvpsn67r",
  "status": "succeeded",
  "output": "https://blog.api.market/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/p-video-edit-output-7jq2gbsb-api-market.mp4",
  "error": null,
  "created_at": "2026-10-22T03:32:50.292Z",
  "started_at": "2026-10-22T03:32:51.292Z",
  "completed_at": "2026-10-22T03:37:59.292Z"
}
```

`output` is a single URL string pointing to the edited video.

### Status Codes
- **201 Created**: prediction created (POST `/predictions`). This is the normal success response.
- **200 OK**: prediction details returned (GET `/predictions/{id}`).
- **400 Bad Request**: invalid input, for example a missing `video` or `prompt`, or more than 4 reference images.
- **401 Unauthorized**: missing or invalid API key.
- **404 Not Found**: no prediction with that ID.
- **429 Too Many Requests**: rate limit exceeded.
- **500 Internal Server Error** or **503 Service Unavailable**: temporary server problem; retry later.

## Rate Limits
All plans allow 10 requests per second. Requests above that return `429 Too Many Requests`; back off before retrying and honour any `Retry-After` header. Polling a prediction with GET is free but still counts toward the per-second limit, so poll every 1 to 5 seconds rather than in a tight loop.

## Error Handling
- Check the HTTP status code of every request and read the response body for the error message.
- A prediction can also end with `status` set to `failed`; the `error` field then explains why. Failed predictions are not billed.
- Retry 429, 500 and 503 responses with exponential backoff. Fix the input before retrying a 400.

## Implementation Guide
### Example Code

    },
    body: JSON.stringify({ version: "prunaai/p-video-edit", input })
  });

  if (response.status !== 201) {
    throw new Error(`API error: ${response.status} ${await response.text()}`);
  }

  const prediction = await response.json();
  return pollForResults(prediction.id);
}

const delay = (ms) => new Promise((resolve) => setTimeout(resolve, ms));

async function pollForResults(predictionId) {
  const maxTimeout = 1200000;
  const pollInterval = 5000;
  const startTime = Date.now();

  while (Date.now() - startTime < maxTimeout) {
    const response = await fetch(`${baseUrl}/predictions/${predictionId}`, {
      headers: { "x-api-market-key": apiKey }
    });

    if (!response.ok) {
      throw new Error(`API error: ${response.status} ${await response.text()}`);
    }

    const prediction = await response.json();

    if (prediction.status === "succeeded") {
      return prediction.output;
    }

    if (prediction.status === "failed" || prediction.status === "canceled") {
      throw new Error(`Prediction ${prediction.status}: ${prediction.error || "Unknown error"}`);
    }

    await delay(pollInterval);
  }

  throw new Error("Prediction timed out after 20 minutes");
}

## FAQ
- **How long can the input video be?**
  - Up to 15 seconds.
- **What does draft mode change?**
  - `draft` `true` returns a faster, lower-quality preview and costs $0.032 per second of output instead of $0.0576.
- **How many reference images can I send?**
  - Up to 4, as jpg, jpeg, png or webp URLs in `images`.
- **Is the audio kept?**
  - Yes, by default. Set `save_audio` to `false` to drop it.
- **Is the 201 response from POST an error?**
  - No. 201 Created means the prediction was accepted. Use the returned `id` to poll GET `/predictions/{id}` until `status` is `succeeded`, `failed` or `canceled`.
- **What if my prediction fails?**
  - Failed predictions are not billed. Read the `error` field, adjust the input and try again.
