# 🎥 Image Morphing Video Generator API (fofr Video Morpher)

## Overview
Video Morpher turns four subject images into one short video that morphs from each subject to the next. Its developer describes it as generating a video that morphs between subjects, with an optional style. This version is published by fofr.

Send four images (`subject_image_1` to `subject_image_4`, all required), and optionally a `style_image` whose look is applied to the whole video. The `prompt` has only a small effect; the subject images drive most of the result. The output is a list of video URLs.

## Features
- **Four subjects in one video**: the video moves through `subject_image_1`, `subject_image_2`, `subject_image_3` and `subject_image_4`.
- **Style transfer**: `style_image` applies one image's style to the whole video, with `style_strength` from 0 to 2 (default 1).
- **Base checkpoints**: `checkpoint` `realistic` (default), `illustrated`, `anime`, `3D` or `any`.
- **Quality modes**: `mode` `small`, `medium` (default), `upscaled` or `upscaled-and-interpolated`. Its developer gives rough run times of about 20 seconds, 60 seconds, 2 minutes and 4 minutes.
- **Aspect ratios**: `16:9`, `4:3`, `3:2`, `1:1`, `2:3` (default), `3:4` and `9:16`.
- **Motion guide**: `use_controlnet` (default `true`) uses geometric circles to guide the generation.
- **Seed**: set `seed` to reproduce a result; leave it out for a random seed.

## Use Cases
1. **Transition clips**: morph between four product shots, characters or artworks for social video.
2. **Animated mood boards**: blend a set of reference images into one moving sequence in a single style.
3. **Music and loop visuals**: produce short abstract morphing clips for visualisers and backgrounds.
4. **Creative previews**: try a sequence with `small` mode first, then render the final one with `upscaled-and-interpolated`.

## Pricing
- **Pay As You Go (PAYG) pricing**: you only pay for what you use.
- **Price**: $0.44 per API unit.
- **1 API unit = 1 request with up to 361 seconds of processing.** A request that runs longer is billed one more unit for each started 361-second block (for example, more than 361 and up to 722 seconds of processing is 2 units, $0.88).
- Processing time depends mostly on `mode`; `upscaled-and-interpolated` is the slowest.
- **Example cost**: the example request (`upscaled-and-interpolated`, four subjects plus a style image) took 205.2 seconds of processing, which fits in one 361-second block: 1 API unit, $0.44.
- **Failed or cancelled predictions are not billed.**
- **GET requests to check prediction status** are free and don't count toward API unit usage.
- **No monthly subscription fee.**

## API Documentation

### Base URL
All API requests go to: `https://prod.api.market/api/v1/magicapi/video-morphing-api-fofr-video-morpher`

### Authentication
Send your api.market API key in the `x-api-market-key` header:
```
x-api-market-key: YOUR_API_MARKET_KEY
```

### Asynchronous Processing
**IMPORTANT**: This API is asynchronous. The flow is:
1. Send a POST request to `/predictions`. A successful request returns **201 Created** with a prediction `id` and a `status` of `starting` or `processing`.
2. Poll GET `/predictions/{id}` with that ID.
3. Keep polling while `status` is `starting` or `processing`.
4. Stop when `status` is `succeeded` (read `output`), `failed` or `canceled` (read `error`).

Video jobs take minutes. A polling interval of 5 seconds and an overall timeout of 1800 seconds (30 minutes) work well.

```
Response (201 Created):
```json

```bash
curl -X GET "https://prod.api.market/api/v1/magicapi/video-morphing-api-fofr-video-morpher/predictions/{id}" \
  -H "x-api-market-key: YOUR_API_MARKET_KEY"
```

Response when the prediction has finished (200 OK):
```json
{
  "id": "5zkb9zzmt5rmw0d1f5794x97b8",
  "status": "succeeded",
  "output": [
    "https://blog.api.market/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/video-morpher-output-1-5zkb9zzm-api-market.mp4",
    "https://blog.api.market/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/video-morpher-output-3-5zkb9zzm-api-market.mp4",
    "https://blog.api.market/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/video-morpher-output-4-5zkb9zzm-api-market.mp4"
  ],
  "error": null,
  "created_at": "2026-10-26T17:43:00.177Z",
  "started_at": "2026-10-26T17:44:04.891Z",
  "completed_at": "2026-10-26T17:47:30.083Z"
}
```

`output` is an array of MP4 video URLs. With `upscaled-and-interpolated` it held four: a preview, an upscaled video, an upscaled model pass and the final interpolated video, in that order. Modes without upscaling or interpolation can return fewer videos.

### Status Codes
- **201 Created**: prediction created (POST `/predictions`). This is the normal success response.
- **200 OK**: prediction details returned (GET `/predictions/{id}`).
- **400 Bad Request**: invalid input, for example a missing subject image or a `style_strength` outside 0 to 2.
- **401 Unauthorized**: missing or invalid API key.
- **404 Not Found**: no prediction with that ID.
- **429 Too Many Requests**: rate limit exceeded.
- **500 Internal Server Error** or **503 Service Unavailable**: temporary server problem; retry later.

## Rate Limits
Requests are rate limited to keep usage fair. If you receive a 429 response, wait and retry with exponential backoff.

## Error Handling
- Check the HTTP status code of every request and read the response body for the error message.
- A prediction can also end with `status` set to `failed`; the `error` field then explains why. Failed predictions are not billed.
- Retry 429, 500 and 503 responses with exponential backoff. Fix the input before retrying a 400.

## FAQ
- **Do I need exactly four subject images?**
  - Yes. `subject_image_1` to `subject_image_4` are all required. To morph between fewer subjects, repeat an image.
- **Does the prompt change the video much?**
  - Only a little. The subject images drive most of the video; use `style_image` and `style_strength` to change the look.
- **Which output is the final video?**
  - In the example (`upscaled-and-interpolated`) the list held a preview, two upscaled versions and the final interpolated video, which is the last URL in `output`.
- **How long does a request take and what does it cost?**
  - Mostly set by `mode`. The example in `upscaled-and-interpolated` took 205.2 seconds of processing, 1 unit, $0.44. Use `small` or `medium` for quick drafts.
- **What if my prediction fails?**
  - Failed predictions are not billed. Read the `error` field, adjust the input and try again.
