# 💧 Video Watermark API (Megacubos Video Watermark)

![Video Watermark API (Megacubos Video Watermark) on api.market](https://blog.api.market/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/megacubos__video-watermark-cover-api-market.jpg)

## Overview
Video Watermark by Megacubos adds a customizable text or image watermark to an MP4 video.

Send a `video` URL and either `watermark_text` or `watermark_image_url`. Place the watermark in a corner, in the center or as a repeating `pattern` (default), and set its size, opacity, rotation and text color. Each request returns the URL of one MP4 video.

## Features
- **Text or image watermark**: set `watermark_text`, or `watermark_image_url` for a logo image.
- **Placement**: `top-left`, `top-right`, `bottom-left`, `bottom-right`, `center` or a repeating `pattern` (default) with `pattern_spacing` from 50 to 1000 pixels.
- **Look**: `size` from 10 to 500 pixels (font size for text, width for an image), `opacity` from 0 to 1, `rotation` from -360 to 360 degrees.
- **Text color**: `text_color` as `R,G,B`, white (`255,255,255`) by default.

## Use Cases
1. **Brand your videos**: put your name or logo on clips before publishing.
2. **Protect previews**: tile a pattern watermark over sample or draft videos.
3. **Client review copies**: mark videos as drafts or samples.
4. **Automated pipelines**: watermark generated or uploaded videos in bulk.

## Visual Examples
### Example Input

Settings: `watermark_text` "Sample watermark", `position` `bottom-right`, `size` 50, `opacity` 0.7, `rotation` 0, `text_color` `255,255,255`, `pattern_spacing` 250, `watermark_image_url` empty.

### Example Output

## Pricing
- **Pay As You Go (PAYG) pricing**: you only pay for what you use.
- **Price**: $0.001 per API unit.
- **1 API unit = 1 request with up to 8 seconds of processing.** A request that runs longer is billed one more unit for each started 8-second block (for example, more than 8 and up to 16 seconds of processing is 2 units, $0.002).
- Longer videos take longer to process and can use more units.
- **Example cost**: the example request took 0.9 seconds of processing, which fits in one 8-second block: 1 API unit, $0.001.
- **Failed or cancelled predictions are not billed.**
- **GET requests to check prediction status** are free and don't count toward API unit usage.
- **No monthly subscription fee.**

## API Documentation

### Base URL
All API requests go to: `https://prod.api.market/api/v1/magicapi/video-watermark-api-megacubos-video-watermark`

### Authentication
Send your api.market API key in the `x-api-market-key` header:
```
x-api-market-key: YOUR_API_MARKET_KEY
```

### Asynchronous Processing
**IMPORTANT**: This API is asynchronous. The flow is:
1. Send a POST request to `/predictions`. A successful request returns **201 Created** with a prediction `id` and a `status` of `starting` or `processing`.
2. Poll GET `/predictions/{id}` with that ID.
3. Keep polling while `status` is `starting` or `processing`.
4. Stop when `status` is `succeeded` (read `output`), `failed` or `canceled` (read `error`).

A polling interval of 1 second and an overall timeout of 600 seconds (10 minutes) work well.

### Endpoints

#### Create a Prediction
```bash
curl -X POST "https://prod.api.market/api/v1/magicapi/video-watermark-api-megacubos-video-watermark/predictions" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "x-api-market-key: YOUR_API_MARKET_KEY" \
  -d '{
    "version": "82e997ab25237f1ed9cf1dcb475fc0c267945a58526d951bc4c683fd087b00e2",
    "input": {
      "size": 50,
      "video": "https://blog.api.market/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/gfpgan-video-input-v2-api-market.mp4",
      "opacity": 0.7,
      "position": "bottom-right",
      "rotation": 0,
      "text_color": "255,255,255",
      "watermark_text": "Sample watermark",
      "pattern_spacing": 250,
      "watermark_image_url": ""
    }
  }'
```

Response (201 Created):
```json
{
  "id": "x0pmwag7mhrmw0d1f1n83z4dbr",
  "version": "82e997ab25237f1ed9cf1dcb475fc0c267945a58526d951bc4c683fd087b00e2",
  "status": "starting",
  "created_at": "2026-10-26T13:32:57.270Z"
}
```

#### Check Prediction Status
```bash
curl -X GET "https://prod.api.market/api/v1/magicapi/video-watermark-api-megacubos-video-watermark/predictions/{id}" \
  -H "x-api-market-key: YOUR_API_MARKET_KEY"
```

Response when the prediction has finished (200 OK):
```json
{
  "id": "x0pmwag7mhrmw0d1f1n83z4dbr",
  "status": "succeeded",
  "output": "https://blog.api.market/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/video-watermark-output-x0pmwag7-api-market.mp4",
  "error": null,
  "created_at": "2026-10-26T13:32:57.270Z",
  "started_at": "2026-10-26T13:33:14.382Z",
  "completed_at": "2026-10-26T13:33:15.268Z"
}
```

`output` is a single URL string pointing to the watermarked MP4 video.

### Status Codes
- **201 Created**: prediction created (POST `/predictions`). This is the normal success response.
- **200 OK**: prediction details returned (GET `/predictions/{id}`).
- **400 Bad Request**: invalid input, for example a missing `video` or a `position` that is not in the list.
- **401 Unauthorized**: missing or invalid API key.
- **404 Not Found**: no prediction with that ID.
- **429 Too Many Requests**: rate limit exceeded.
- **500 Internal Server Error** or **503 Service Unavailable**: temporary server problem; retry later.

## Rate Limits
Requests are rate limited to keep usage fair. If you receive a 429 response, wait and retry with exponential backoff.

## Error Handling
- Check the HTTP status code of every request and read the response body for the error message.
- A prediction can also end with `status` set to `failed`; the `error` field then explains why. Failed predictions are not billed.
- Retry 429, 500 and 503 responses with exponential backoff. Fix the input before retrying a 400.

### Example Code

#### JavaScript
```javascript
  });
  if (response.status !== 201) {
    throw new Error(`API error: ${response.status} ${await response.text()}`);
  }
## FAQ
- **Can I use a logo instead of text?**
  - Yes. Put the logo's image URL in `watermark_image_url` and leave `watermark_text` empty. `size` then sets the logo width in pixels.
- **How do I tile the watermark over the whole video?**
  - Use `position` `pattern` (the default) and set `pattern_spacing` (50 to 1000 pixels, default 250). `rotation` (default 30 degrees) tilts each copy.
- **Which video format does it accept?**
  - An MP4 video URL in `video`. The output is also an MP4.
- **How much does one request cost?**
  - $0.001 per request with up to 8 seconds of processing; the example took 0.9 seconds and cost 1 unit ($0.001). A longer job bills one more unit per started 8-second block.
- **Is the 201 response from POST an error?**
  - No. 201 Created means the prediction was accepted. Use the returned `id` to poll GET `/predictions/{id}` until `status` is `succeeded`, `failed` or `canceled`.
- **What if my prediction fails?**
  - Failed predictions are not billed. Read the `error` field, check that the video URL is reachable and try again.
