# Amazon and Walmart Reviews API: Review Scraping as JSON

## Overview

The Walmart and Amazon Reviews API returns product reviews and product details from both stores as structured JSON. GET /v1/walmart/reviews lists reviews for one Walmart item with filters for stars, verified purchases, sort order, topic and start date, and can include the product record in the same call. GET /v1/walmart/product returns the product on its own: price, availability, seller, category, specifications, average rating, review count and a 1 to 5 star breakdown. GET /v1/amazon/reviews takes an ASIN or Amazon URL and returns top reviews per marketplace, the rating histogram and Amazon's Customers say topics with sentiment and mention counts.

It suits ecommerce brands monitoring complaints, sellers researching competitor products, product and quality teams grouping feedback by topic, market researchers and analysts, and developers feeding customer reviews into AI agents. Each response has a products array, a reviews array, a count and a summary array that reports status, how many reviews were available versus delivered and why the request stopped. Review records include rating, title, text, submission date, verified-purchase flag, helpful votes, media URLs and variant, and no reviewer names or profiles are returned.

## Features

* **3 endpoints**: Walmart reviews, Walmart product details and Amazon reviews, all GET requests with a single product parameter.
* **Review filters**: On Walmart, filter by stars (for example 1,2), verified_only, topic and since date, and sort by newest, oldest, helpful, relevancy or rating.
* **Amazon by ASIN**: Pass an ASIN or Amazon product URL and add marketplaces such as US,CA,UK to collect each marketplace's top reviews in one response.
* **Topic sentiment**: Amazon Customers say topics come with positive, negative or mixed sentiment, mention counts and a short summary; Walmart summaries list review topics with mention counts.
* **Product data**: Price, availability, seller, category, images, specifications, average rating, review count and a star rating breakdown or histogram.
* **Honest summary block**: Every response states reviews available versus delivered and the stop reason, so a partial result is never mistaken for a full one.
* **No reviewer identities**: Review records carry no reviewer names, profiles or locations.
* **Rate limit**: 2 requests per second on the free trial and 5 requests per second on Basic.

## Use Cases

* **Complaint monitoring**: Pull the newest 1 and 2 star verified reviews for your products each day and alert the team when new issues appear.
* **Competitor research**: Compare Customers say topics and low-star reviews for a competitor's ASIN against your own product.
* **Product and quality teams**: Group Walmart reviews by topic such as Quality or Value For Money to find recurring defects.
* **Price and listing checks**: Use the Walmart product endpoint to track price, stock status, seller and rating breakdown for a list of item IDs.
* **AI agents and analytics**: Give an LLM or dashboard recent customer reviews in clean JSON with ratings, dates and topic labels already attached.
* **Market research**: Sample reviews across several Amazon marketplaces to see how buyers in different countries rate the same ASIN.

## Pricing

## Status Codes

| Code | Status | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 200 | OK | The request succeeded and the data is in the response body. |
| 400 | Bad Request | A required parameter is missing or invalid, or the `x-api-market-key` header is missing. |
| 401 | Unauthorized | The `x-api-market-key` value is invalid or expired. |
| 403 | Forbidden | Your subscription does not include this endpoint. Check which endpoints your plan includes. |
| 404 | Not Found | The requested item or path was not found. |
| 429 | Too Many Requests | You went over your plan's rate limit (2 to 5 requests/second depending on plan) or used up your plan's calls. |
| 500 | Internal Server Error | Something failed while processing the request. Retry after a short delay. |
| 503 | Service Unavailable | The service is temporarily unavailable. Retry later. |

## Rate Limits

The free trial allows 2 requests per second and 50 calls. The Basic plan allows 5 requests per second and 1,000 calls a month with a hard limit, so calls beyond the quota are blocked until the next cycle. Going over the per-second limit returns HTTP 429; back off and retry, and honour the Retry-After header when it is present.

## FAQ

**Is there a free trial?**

Yes. The Free plan is a 7-day free trial with 50 API calls across all three endpoints.

**How much does it cost?**

The Basic plan is $9.99 per month for 1,000 calls. It has a hard limit, so extra calls are blocked rather than billed.

**How do I call the API?**

Send a GET request with your API.market key in the x-api-market-key header, for example /v1/walmart/reviews?product=10450114&stars=1,2&verified_only=true.

**What do I pass as the product?**

For Walmart, use the numeric item ID (such as 10450114) or the product URL. For Amazon, use the ASIN (such as B0BSHF7WHW) or the Amazon product URL.

**Why do I get only a few Amazon reviews?**

Amazon shows about 8 to 13 top reviews per product without sign-in, as the summary note in each response explains. Add more marketplaces, for example marketplaces=US,CA,UK, to collect more.

**How many Walmart reviews can I get per call?**

Set max_reviews from 1 to 100 (default 20). The summary shows reviewsAvailable and reviewsDelivered so you can see how many more exist.

**How fresh is the data?**

Each product and review record has a scrapedAt timestamp and a fromCache flag, so you can see when it was collected and whether it came from cache.

**Is this an official Amazon or Walmart API?**

No. It is an independent API and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Amazon or Walmart.
